Sarrabulho rice is one of minho's regional gastronomic dishes, especiall y the oldest village in Portugal: Ponte de Lima. This specialty will have arisen during the 19th century. It was brought to Ponte de Lima by the hand of Clara Penha, owner of one of the most important pensions of Ponte de Lima.
The prestige of this typical dish already comes from far away and attracts to the minhota village a large number of visitors from all over the country.
This importance generated a need to ensure the preservation of the original recipe of Sarrabulho, and so was created in 2006 the Gastronomic Confraternity of Sarrabulho à Moda de Ponte de Lima.
